I've always enjoyed drawing and painting for as long as I can remember, in all honesty it was the only thing I was good at in school.
At Wigan and Leigh collage I enrolled on an Advanced Art and Design course enabling me to try all types of medium from Life Drawing to ceramics before going on to specialise in Graphic Design and Illustrati

After 20 years working in unrelated industries, I felt it was time to pick up the brushes again and Neil Hunter.Art was born !

Currently I'm enjoying painting in black and white, relying on the contrast of light and dark to pick out features and details to make the subject recognisable without massive detail.
By taking photographs and adjusting the brightness, contrast and exposure I then set about painting in a monochrom style. Painting liberally in acrylics an
Currently I'm enjoying painting in black and white, relying on the contrast of light and dark to pick out features and details to make the subject recognisable without massive detail.
By taking photographs and adjusting the brightness, contrast and exposure I then set about painting in a monochrom style. Painting liberally in acrylics and even emulsion for a matt finish on a primed white canvas allows the images to really pop.

The inspiration behind my work is pop culture.
I'm keen to paint things that people like or want. This could be legends of music, sport, film and television. Growing up many of us would have posters on our walls of favourite movies or sports stars/idols, this I feel is kind of a continuation of that.
